Inshore / Nearshore Fishing Charters
(Scroll to the bottom for trips in our area)
Inshore fishing is saltwater fishing in bays and estuaries that are protected from the ocean's wind and surf, while nearshore fishing is saltwater fishing in the ocean relatively close to shore. The specific definition of inshore fishing can vary from angler to angler and from area to area, but it is generally considered to be any fishing that takes place in waters roughly 30 meters deep or less. Nearshore fishing takes place between the waters past the jetties, beaches, and bays and the offshore drop-off, extending to around 10 or 20 miles offshore.
Inshore fishing is suitable for beginners and families with children, while nearshore fishing is better for experienced anglers. Inshore fishing is typically much calmer than offshore fishing because of its much shallower depths. Inshore fishing techniques include drifting live bait on basic tackle, casting plugs, crankbaits, swimbaits, and other lures. Nearshore fishing is ideal for charter fishing because you can reach the fishing grounds sooner, the boat burns less fuel getting there, and you have more time casting lines. Casting is fairly straightforward, with lures and bait being thrown out and retrieved. In cases where the water is clear or the fish are swimming close to the surface, sight casting is popular.
