Pistol Competition Scoring & Handicap System
Structure, Rules and Procedures
The Kings Point Sportsman’s Club maintains a Pistol Scoring Competition open to all Club members.
In order to provide a level playing field for all shooters the Competition has 2 levels of scoring.
1. Scratch – actual Scores of 10 round groups slow fired & unsupported on NRA B-2 Targets @ 50 Feet
2. Handicap Actual Scores of 10 round groups slow fired & unsupported on NRA B-2 Targets @ 50 Feet + established handicap to equal total score for record.
Establishing a Handicap: Shooters can establish a handicap by submitting 4 individual scores of 10 rounds each on individual NRA B-2 targets to the Club Record Keeper of the handicap system.
Maintaining a Handicap: Handicap is derived from an average of the highest 5 scores of the latest scores submitted (up to 20 scores will be used)"
Reporting: The club Scoring record keeper will publish the results of all scores turned in during a monthly period and present those results at The Monthly Membership Meeting. All Scores to be included in the monthly report must be turned in no later than the Sunday preceding the Wednesday monthly meeting. The monthly pistol handicap report will also be used to update the Sportsman’s Club Walls of Fame.
Rules for KP Sportsman’s Club Pistol Scoring Competition
12. Shooters scoring greater than 85 actual score must have each scoring target over 85 verified by one of the following designated members of the Sportsman’s Club: VP Mike McClintic, Sec John Barry, Paul Novotny, Tim Goszka, or any member in good standing witnessing the actual target shoot. 13. Scores greater than 85 actual will NOT be recorded in the handicap system or Wall of Fame until properly verified. 14. Shooters may turn in as many 10 round group scores as they wish in the 30-day period between meetings (by the established deadline) and may shoot at any range they wish as long as all club rules are followed and scores properly reported. 15. The Sportsman’s club supplies NRA-B2 targets, free of charge to all member shooters. Targets are available at all monthly meetings, weekly at the Friday club shoot at Gun Craft Range, and from Mike McClintic & Paul Novotny.
Verified scores will be added to the Club’s Wall of Fame as an ongoing record of highest scores achieved in all three categories.
The Pistol Competition and Handicap Scoring Systems are administered by the Honor System for the participation and benefit of all Sportsman’s Club Members.
Summary of Changes to Pistol Competition
1.Written clarification of all rules and procedures in regard to Pistol Competition, scoring and handicap systems.
2.Establishment of new Wall of Fame records for Scratch & Handicap based on new and clarified shooting and handicap rules.
3.Archive of previous Wall of Fame records for club history, to include close out date.
4.Specific new method of handicap determination on ongoing basis.
5.Club Record keeper has already calculated handicaps in all areas using the new protocol to be posted and maintained Jan 1st 2020.
6.Proper procedures for Verification of targets showing actual score of 85 or above.
7.Presentation of revised rules and procedures to the KPSC board for approval and posting to all KPSC members of record. Changes to take place Jan 1st 2020.

Rules for KP Sportsman’s Club Pistol Scoring Competition
- All competitors must be Kings Point Sportsman’s Club members in good standing.
- Only handguns of any caliber may be used, must be a hand held Pistol, Revolver or Semi-Auto Pistol. Max magazine load = 10 rounds.
- Aftermarket target pistol grips permitted. No stocks or extensions permitted.
- Competition sights including NON-Magnifying Red Dots on Picatinny rails permitted
- Trigger, sear, firing pin and other internal modifications permitted, weapon CANNOT be capable of firing in Automatic mode.
- Only the NRA B-2 Target will be used for Scoring Competition
- Target distance is to be 50 ft or 15 + yards for indoor ranges so limited.
- Shooters may compete at any Available Range with NRA B-2 Targets @ 50 feet.
- Shooting Competition is Slow Fire No more than 1 round fired every 2 seconds
