Kings Point Rules for Recreational use of Lakes
Approved: May 4, 2012
“Participant” is any person intending to use a Master Association lake for sport fishing or other enjoyment.
RECREATION:
1. Swimming, boating, kayaking, playing with floating toys in or around a lake, and other
similar recreational activities, are not allowed.
2. CONDUCTING ANY ACTIVITY AT A LAKE, THAT CREATES A DISTURBANCE TO ADJACENT
UNIT OWNERS, IS NOT ALLOWED.
FISHING:
Fishing in the Kings Point lakes is an activity that is neither promoted nor discouraged by the Master Association. However the following indicates what is allowed and what is prohibited:
1. RESIDENTS AND THEIR PERSONAL GUESTS MAY FISH IN MASTER ASSOCIATION LAKES
ONLY. Generally, with a few exceptions, the Master Association owns lakes that are not bordered by a golf course.
(see attached map-purple color are 33 Master Association lakes)
2. A fishing license is not required to fish the Master Association lakes.
3. Participants may access the lakes by walking or by personal wheeled chair ONLY. Golf carts
are NOT to be driven over grassed areas, but may be parked on a roadway's grassed right of-way. Please avoid all sprinkler heads.
4. Trespassing on Golf Course property is not allowed.
5. Fishing is NOT allowed behind any unit where the unit owner expresses an objection or
where signs are posted. Be respectful of people's privacy and move to another location.
6. All fishing in Kings Point is for sport ONLY. All catches are to be released unharmed. Eating
the lake fish is not recommended, due to the use of chemicals on the grasses surrounding the lakes.
7. Do not walk or stand upon any of the storm water control structures (concrete weirs, dams,
metal storm grates, etc.) at any time. Doing so may compromise the structure and the physical safety of participants.
8. Cast nets are not allowed. Participants are required to use barb-less hooks or hooks that have
had the barbs bent closed, to help to ensure less mortality of fish that are caught and released.
9. Fishing after dark is not allowed.
10. Fishing south of the Kings Point Garden Center, at the Archery Range, is not allowed while
Archery Practice is in session. The practice schedule is posted on the gated entrance to the Archery Range.
11. Do not move large fish from one lake to another without FIRST calling the Master
Association Manager to verify if the Master Association is in the process of stocking small fish in the lakes.
12. Triploid grass carp are present in most lakes. USE CAUTION TO NOT SNAG OR OTHERWISE
INJURE THE CARP and do not disturb any of the fish barriers located on the face of the storm water control structures.
CAUTIONS:
1. Persons using the lakes or bringing guests to the lakes are responsible for their own safety.
2. Pets and children must be closely supervised at all times, while near the lake.
3. Be aware that all lakes provide a home to wildlife, some of which are protected species.
Take care to not disturb the nests of birds and turtles. Water moccasins and alligators are present in and around many of the lakes and can be a threat to safety. Turtles and armadillos may dig unseen holes and lake slopes can be slippery. Wear proper footwear and exercise care when walking around the lakes.
4. To protect the wildlife, remove any trash, bait, tackle, fishing line, lures, and any other items
you bring with you to the lake.
5. At least one sign is posted at each Master Association lake that says "NO SWIMMING/
CAUTION ALLIGATORS". If the sign is missing or not readily visible, please call the Master Association Manager.
6. FEEDING ALLIGATORS IS AGAINST THE LAW AND A PROSECUTABLE OFFENSE IN THE STATE
OF FLORIDA. If an alligator displays aggression in any way, please report the incident to the Master Association immediately, so that the animal can be removed.
